You're My Best Friend

Jenna came to visit me for her spring break!!!! We had such a fun time this past week and I miss her already :'( I picked her up (late :-/) from the airport Saturday afternoon and we dropped her stuff off at my apartment. Then we went on a whirlwind tour of Paris. We started at the Eiffel Tower, walked to the Arc de Triomphe, and down the Champs-Elysees to Place de la Concorde. Then we metroed it to the Latin Quarter and ate at a crazy mexican restaurant!!! It was crazy in there. The margaritas were 7 euro but so worth it! Then we went over to Nanda's for a quick hello and a bottle (or 4) of champagne.

Sunday started kind of late for us. We met some of the group at the Jam place (please see Emily's blog entry on the wonders of Bonne Maman jam) for a free lunch. Then we headed to Versailles with P(f)aff. So we kinda took the rer illegally out there. Well, we used our zone 1-2 tickets (well Jenna's went to 3) but Versailles is in zone 4. When we got off the RER, on the other side of the turnstiles where we have to run our tickets through (and ours wouldn't have worked b/c they weren't for zone 4) was a line of cops writing tickets for people jumping turnstiles, which we would have had to do. So, brilliant Pfaff had this idea, we went back to a zone 3 stop (only 2 back) and I used Jenna's ticket to exit and bought 3 zone 3/4 tickets (much cheaper than zone 1-4) and we went back to Versailles. Of course, the cops weren't there anymore >:O Anyway, we had a lovely afternoon at Versailles and in the gardens.

I had class all week :'( so I didn't get to show Jenna everything but she went to a bunch of places during the week and had a good time. Monday we had a relaxing evening, but Tuesday we went out to dinner because Shaun and David came to visit. Jenna ended up hanging out with them during the day Wednesday and then we went to the Louvre for free Wednesday after class because it was open later. Thursday during my lunch break we went to the Middle Ages Museum because the Lady and the Unicorn Tapestry series is there. One of our favorite authors-Tracy Chevalier-wrote a book about the story behind the tapestries. Check out her website: http://www.tchevalier.com/index.html. Thursday evening we met in the Latin Quarter for dinner at my crepe place and then did a Bateaux-Mouches boat ride on the Seine. Friday we met on the Champs-Elysees for a date! We did dinner at a cafe and saw a movie (Breaking and Entering). It was a great end to the week. I got her to the airport Saturday morning. It was harder than I thought to say goodbye. We're used to our long-distance relationship but she was like having a little bit of home here and I didn't want her to go! :'( So I went back to the jam place for some jam-therapy with Emily.
